Why does my 20x4 text jump from line 1 to line 3?
The HD44780 addresses the four lines at 0x00, 0x40, 0x14 and 0x54 on a 20 character wide display. Firmware that writes one continuous string fills lines 1 and 3 first, so the cursor address has to be set for each line.
Can the 20x4 be read back by the microcontroller?
Yes. The R/W line lets the host read the busy flag and the address counter instead of inserting fixed delays, which is how the bus is normally driven in 6800 mode.
Is the 20x4 available with a yellow backlight?
Yes, both white and yellow LED backlights are stocked, and the backlight voltage and series resistor can be set to your supply rail.
What is the operating temperature of the 20x4 module?
Operating -20 to +70 degree and storage -30 to +80 degree. Wide temperature builds are available on request.
