Bar lcd display

Bar Type TFT also call stretched tft ,the main application for bar type TFT LCD with its special fitting sizes, most for advertisement, public information display on bus stop,railway station, airport. instead of traditional LED screen, bar type LCD display with lower consumption, high brightness and contrast, would be more and more in the future.

The bar lcd is long in X direction and thin in Y direction. A monochrome bar lcd can be total custom making by difference sizes (less than 10”), a monochrome bar oled is also available for difference standard sizes, such 128*32 resolution in 0.91”, 2.23”, 3.2”, 5.5” bar oled display module. A color bar lcd would be bar type tft lcd, the bar type tft could be made by two difference ways, original bar type tft panel that cut in tft panel manufacturers. The bar type lcds are made by the process

 “ Liquid crystal injected --> lcd sealing --> lcd cell cutting”

Another bar type tft would be by the after-cut way, that is the bar lcd displays are made by the process:

“ Liquid crystal injected --> lcd sealing --> lcd cell cutting --> second cutting to bar type tft --> lcd resealing”

That is the bar lcd display were made by the second cutting and second sealing. The reason for second cutting is because the original lcd cell is not designed for bar lcd display in tft panel factory, to make the bar type tft lcd, then cut the lcd panel to bar type sizes.

What about the cost of bar type tft lcd:

The bar type tft lcd cost is more higher than common tft lcd module, such as 2.9” bar lcd display, it is cut by the 3.5 inch 320x240 tft lcd, so its cost would be included the cost of 3.5” tft panel and the cutting cost. So if you would like to choose a bar lcd display for your project, we have to think about the cost for choosing the bar tft lcd display.

Even for the original bar tft lcd, such as 7.8”tft lcd, because it is stretched sizes, it is not economy array in the tft panel mother-glass, its cost is also more higher than the similar size of tft lcd.

What about the reliability and lifetime of bar tft lcd:

To the original cut of bar lcd, its lifetime and reliability would be same as common lcd. But if it is after-cutting bar lcd, the reliability would be a challenge to tft lcd manufacturer. A good tft lcd manufacturer could provide a high reliability lcd for the after-cutting bar tft lcd.
